He has won the BMW Championship the last two seasons and is aiming to emulate his long time friend and idol as well as close friend Colin Montgomerie with a three-peat in the tournament and according to Luke Donald, the changes that the Wentworth course has underwent four years back has helped him a lot and credits this change in the course for the two titles wins that he had in the last two years.
Donald, the former world number one, who was recently honored with an MBE (Most Excellent Order of the British Empire) in London, is hard at work as he aims to win his third straight title at the event and get back to winning ways after an average start to the new season. Luke Donald is looking to become only the second player in the history of the tournament to win the title three times on the bounce when he tees off with the likes of Gonzalo Fernandez Castano as well as Sergio Garcia later in the week.
According to the Englishman, the West Course is one that has to be plotted with extreme caution and precision and added that it is something that suits his game to the T. Speaking to a local news channel in England, Donald stated that the golf course is very much positional and added that it is all about strategy in the tournament. He went on to mention that a player must know where to miss and is pleased with the fact that he putted very well in the last two years.
Luke Donald went on to state that since the course underwent massive changes in 2009, his game has become perfectly suited for it and he hopes to use that to his advantage and win the title once again.
