Luke Donald, the world number two, says that he would like to see more European Golf tour events happening in England, his homeland.
Donald will be defending his BMW PGA Championship winner’s title at Wentworth this May. This event is one of just two events scheduled to take place in England.
In an interview recently he said that it would be nice to have more tours in England. This wish makes sense as he along with other fellow countrymen like Justin Rose, Ian Poulter and Lee Westwood are playing very well, and would be well supported on English courses.
Donald held the number one spot for over forty weeks before Rory McIlroy of Northern Ireland took that spot. He got the top ranking back only to lose it again after a brief stint when McIlroy excelled at the Masters.
It is really a nice time for British golf as players like Ian Poulter (25), Graeme McDowell (18) and Justin Rose (10) also doing well in the world rankings. Donald is very friendly with all these British guys, but they are very competitive in the golf course. They are all happy for each other and when they play, none of them want to lose.
Luke was one of the most favorite players going into the Augusta Masters earlier this month, but quite unfortunately he ended at thirty-second spot. At present, he is playing at the Zurich Classic in New Orleans, but he is also looking forward to play at the Players’ Championship at Sawgrass as well as at the PGA Championship that begins from 24th May.
