English golfer Luke Donald will be hoping that he will do a lot better in taking care of business at the Snake Pit in a more professional way compared to what transpired at Blue Monster just last week. The third ranked golfer in the world will be in Tampa, Florida to defend the Tampa Bay Championship and is hopeful of doing so with a much stronger showing than the T-43 he had last week at Tiger’s Tourney. The Copperhead Course of the Innisbrook Resort is the location of the championship with golf lovers fondly calling it the Snake Pit thanks to the punishing last three holes of the course.
But it might just turn out to be a blessing in disguise for the Englishman who might be a long shot when it comes to teeing the ball but is one of the maestros of the short game. Speaking to the media, Luke Donald admitted that he has enjoyed his time at the golf course and that it had been good and kind for him in the past and there is no reason for that not happening again.
He divulged details about how good course management skills come into play at a course like this and added that the tee shots need to be placed and not hit. Donald, who was the top ranked golfer in the world for sometime in 2011 and 2012, added that there is a lot of technicality on this course and he loves that.
Although the marquee players including the likes of Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy will not be playing at the tournament, Luke Donald, who defeated veteran Jim Furyk to the title last season will have his work cut out in the presence of several star names as he looks to defend the title.
